Yesterday was our final day of preparing products for our booth at the upcoming Christmas Market we are hosting. This is the 68th annual event for us and I think the Gourmet Canners have had a space almost since its beginning. I have to admit I was a little worried that we would get everything completed this year. Many of the group that help on this team were out of town for the summer, then of course the hurricane threw a wrench into things, so time simply got away from us. We made it though with a week to spare 🙂 .
The ladies arrived yesterday morning ready to go. They jumped right in at food processors, cutting boards, and reviewing recipes, wherever we needed them they were there. They simply just came to do, and git ‘r done so to speak. It was a productive day filled with stories and laughter. This little canning group is a fun way to get to know people, learn about their story, where they grew up, what they did for a living, you get the idea. Oh, did I mention that most of these are retired, and um, many of them are in their mid-80s? You all know how I just adore chatting with this generation, I have a special place in my heart for them ❤ .
I realized yesterday, yet again how Father brings people into our lives. I believe everything happens for a reason and I think we can learn from everyone we meet. We are all unique, and we are all special in the eyes of God. If we treat each other knowing that, I think this world would be a much easier place to navigate.
So, yes, another season of the gourmet canning is completed. Next weekend we’ll sell our wares, raising funds to donate to local charities. I look forward to spending more time with these ladies at the market, and getting to know them better, and I’ll continue to thank Father for the relationships He is helping me build.
Oh, and local peeps, if you’re interested, stop by the market next Saturday, November 16th from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. I have it on good authority that you can do some early Christmas shopping 🙂 .
Have a great day everyone, and continue to lift prayers for those recovering from the storms last month, and for sweet Emily Rea that she may be found.
