More Thanks

It’s an exciting week, not only are we celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, we are celebrating the return to services in our church this weekend. It’s been a busy few months since Hurricane Milton came through and my goodness I’ve learned a ton. I never thought I’d be able to talk about HVAC systems, floor restoration, drywall types, etc., but hey, here I am 🙂 .

As I continue with the theme of this week’s little blog, giving thanks for one thing each day, today I give thanks for volunteers. We have some amazing volunteers who have helped in so many ways as we’ve worked to get things back in shape at the church. They’ve come and loaded furniture into trucks, cleaned rooms, dropped off supplies, or brought food for those volunteering. A crew has stepped up for Saturday to help move some final things back into the church and put the final touches on things for Sunday. We are so blessed to have so wonderful volunteers who just answer the call when asked.

Tomorrow, my husband and I are fortunate to work with another group of volunteers as we serve Thanksgiving lunch at Youth Haven. This is our fourth year spending the morning at this special place. Youth Haven is an organization that provides Home, Hope, and Healing for neglected or abused children in SW Florida. We’ll make the traditional Thanksgiving dishes set up the ever-popular ice cream sundae bar and watch the kids eat way too much. Though they all may not say it out loud, I’ve seen the thank you and appreciation in their eyes.

So today, I give thanks to volunteers and their commitment to making a difference in the giving of their time and talent. Whatever the organization or situation, volunteers, well they do what Jesus asks us to do every day, to “Love others as I have loved you”.

Have a wonderful day friends, and if you’re volunteering this week, thank you!

1 Corinthians 1:4
I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus.
