With Your Heart

How often do you find yourself in situations where you have to make a decision but you are just not quite sure what to do? If you’re like me, it happens more than you’d like. It’s an uneasy feeling sometimes, especially if the decisions you are torn between are life-changing.

Over the years I’ve had to make many decisions that were life-changing. Just the decision to move to SW Florida many years ago was a big one. My husband and I had much to consider and we had many, many conversations about the pros and cons of the decision. Ultimately though, it was only through prayer and discernment with Father that helped make the final decision. We gave the decision to Him through prayer and opened our hearts to hear what Father wanted us to do.

It’s difficult at times, the discernment and waiting for answers to those prayers I mean. I’ve had so many times when I’ve prayed and prayed and just never felt like I was hearing the answer. Maybe I just wasn’t hearing the answer I wanted to hear. I have to let go of what I believe I want. When I’m able to do that and truly listen with my heart to what Jesus is telling me, then and only then will I find the answer to prayer. Opening my heart to hearing the answer to prayer, that my friends is trusting God and having faith that He is directing my path.

Then, when the answer to prayer comes, the feeling of relief is pretty apparent. It’s interesting how calm you feel when you know that Father has answered your prayers. I think of Jesus praying to His Father in Matthew 26, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” He knew in His heart that the answer to His prayer was, “No, you must continue the walk you are on”. Jesus continued at peace knowing what He had to do.

So friends, if you have decisions in your life that you are struggling with understand that sometimes the answer to our prayer may be “No, you must continue the walk you are on”. That’s ok. Believe with your heart that Father is guiding the path. Pray with an open heart, listen with your heart, and give your heart fully to Him. And then…like Jesus, be at peace knowing what you have to do.

Have a great day my friends. Continued prayers for the people of Western NC, and continued prayers for sweet Emily Rea’s return.
