Something has struck me recently, just over the last few weeks. I have noticed on social media that people are playing a little remember when. It seems to me like this is occurring more this year than in past years, or maybe I’m just noticing it more.
I see old pictures of past Christmas’, families gathering around the tree, decorated with the big bulbs and those icicles we used to all stand back and toss. Friends are sharing memories of when their kids were little. People are taking time to actually resurrect some traditions that hold so many special times in their hearts. Many have held onto the traditions and are sharing them in earnest. The cookie baking, Christmas card writing, and visit to Santa weekends are on display.
My husband and I did some Christmas shopping last weekend, yes at an actual mall. The memories came back so vividly of when our kids were little and we would trek off to our annual shopping weekend. It’s hard to describe the feeling I had walking through those memories. I guess I felt warm and fuzzy you could say.
It makes me happy to see so many people walking down memory lane and sharing their memories. Like the carole says, “In the air, there’s a feeling of Christmas”.
I know the season can be crazy busy, but how much of that do we bring on ourselves, (she says pointing the finger at herself). What if we took a little time each day to just reflect on Christmas past? What if we took a little time to make a few memories for future years?
Friends, Christmas is a time of anticipation and hope. Walk a little down memory lane to that first Christmas, the Baby Jesus is coming and He will give us the greatest gift, the gift of Himself.
Have a wonderful day my friends, my it be filled with Christmas memories 🙂 .
Luke 2:7
And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
