The Power of One – Not

If you’re like me it’s not really in your dna to ask for assistance. I’m a pretty resourceful person, I always say, I have an ops brain, meaning I like to solve problems. I can look at a situation, analyze it pretty quickly and my brain kicks in to how to best handle things. I’m a doer, and sometimes that’s not a good thing. Since, I’m a doer, I tend not to ask for help, I mean who needs it right, us doers, we got this.

I have a friend who is going through a family situation right now. A family member is having health problems and he is trying to juggle work, his family and the family member’s health issues. Like me, he’s a doer, and like me, he tends not to ask for help. Well, recently he’s realized that he kind of needs some assistance, even with just some little things. He asked me to help with a few things, and I could tell he was hesitant. I finally said, “Let people help, together we’ll help you through”.

People like to help people. It’s how we were created. Father put that little piece of compassion inside us for a reason. Us doers, we need to recognize that the power of one, it really isn’t. The power of God’s children together, helping each other, ya, that’s the true power. The power of God’s children supporting each other with love and compassion, it’s unstoppable.

I’ve recognized over the past few months that asking people for help, it’s not a sign of weakness, it’s an opportunity to let others into your life. It shows you’re human, and it allows others to experience the gift of giving. And…at the end of the day, receiving the help, in whatever form, it eases the burdens we carry.

So friends, if you’re a doer like me, I encourage you to let others in to help you do. Let the compassion of others fill your heart and let the power of God’s children help you through whatever the challenge. Together, we’ll help each other through, together we got this thing called life. Father gave us the gift of each other, let’s accept that gift with the love He intended.

Have a great day friends. Prayers for all in the path of some possible nasty weather today, especially those in the Carolina’s. Continued prayers for Emily Rea as well, may she come home soon.
