Now there’s an interesting title for this little blog. Yesterday while grocery shopping I stopped in the floral section. It’s right inside the front door and it’s fun to look for things that might brighten up the home, especially in winter. I love to have fresh flowers around the house, it just makes things “homier”.
As I looked around at the flowers’ colors and different faces, I spied a bucket of tulips. Ahh…yes, those hearty stems that we usually associate with spring as they begin their journey up through the dense winter ground. I couldn’t help but grab a bunch before heading off to finish shopping.
Once home, I carefully trimmed the ends and the excess leaves, and into a simple glass vase they went. If you know tulips, you know that when you place them in the water they are usually drooped over. However, give them a little time and they will be standing straight up. It’s a simple but strong flower for sure, one of God’s beautiful creations.
This morning, as I was heading to my office to write this little blog, I noticed the tulips. As if right on cue, they were standing straight up from their drooped position yesterday. With just a little care, they are upright, and the closed flowers are now opening to show even more beauty and color. They brighten the space for sure, a nice thing in the wintertime. Yes, even in Florida, we have “winter.”
So where am I going with this little story about the tulips? A couple of simple lessons really. First, Father can make anything happen. Flowers that you would normally see coming through the ground in the spring, are standing tall in the dead of winter, (yes I know, greenhouses can grow anything in any season, just go with me here). Second lesson, even when you feel your weakest, you can, with a little care and love stand strong again. Jesus offers that care and love to us every day, all we have to do is accept it.
Don’t underestimate the power of our Lord. He can make all things right, more importantly, I believe He WILL make all things right in His time. Our mission is to do our best to do the right thing and prepare the way for His return. Accept His love and share it. Learn from His teachings and share the knowledge. Help others to see Him through our actions. We need to be the tulips in the winter, my friends 🙂 .
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
