Through the Years

Wasn’t that the title of a song many years ago? Yeah, I think it was. I can even hear Kenny Rogers singing it ๐Ÿ™‚ . Well, it wasn’t the handsome country singer who inspired the title of this little blog; it was the realization of how strong true friendship is.

A few years ago, I shared in this little blog about a group of special women that I came to know through a workout group back home. We became a very close group, and to this day, we stay in contact through a private group chat.

Yesterday during my workout at the gym, a particular exercise had me thinking about this group yet again. I smiled as I trudged through the elevated mountain climbers. Back home, everyone in our group knew I was not a fan of mountain climbers. We made them even better here by elevating them. Who makes up these exercises anyway? Sorry, I digress.

Last night, as I was making dinner I sent a message to my special group letting them know of my morning workout including the dreaded mountain climbers. Immediately friends started chiming in, and I found out that they too had included these in their morning routine. We were together in our workouts in a way, at least it made me feel better to think this, as I missed them through the conversation.

Friendships like these that last through the years are simply priceless. When Father brings people into our lives and a bond is formed, well, it’s simply a gift from Him. This morning, I just give thanks to this special group of friends, my Chix friends. I miss them a bunch and am so thankful for the connection we still share.

Friends, I encourage you to start your day today with a prayer of thanks for the friendships you have in your life. The bonds of connection that bring you close to others. Give thanks for those simple gifts. Then, take a moment today to connect with a friend who you haven’t talked to in a while.

Have a great day everyone. Continued prayers for Western, NC and for California. And…continued prayers for sweet Emily Rea’s return.

Hebrews 10:25
Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
