Fear Not

Depending on where you go for the information, some have said that this phrase, “Fear not,” appears 365 times in the Bible, once for every day of the year. In looking at different sources, it does not appear that this specific phrase appears that many times. However, the reference to not fearing, do not be afraid, having courage, and trusting in God—well, let’s just say it’s close enough :-).

I think the message in the Bible is pretty consistent. Father and His Son Jesus, well, their point is, “We are here, we are not going anywhere. “Believe in Me”. Sometimes, I can only imagine what Father thinks when He has to show us again and again that He is here. Can’t you just hear Him saying, “Helloooo, I’m still here with you?”

I’ve been thinking about this phrase quite a bit lately. I’ve taken it truly to heart and all of my trust is in Father and Jesus. Since realizing that, I have to say, that I have a sense of calm and peace within me. I don’t fear what will come, I know that whatever happens in this silly world, Father will guide me, that is if I let Him.

When you look up the opposite meaning of fear several words are referenced, confidence, courage, boldness. Nah, I say, the opposite of fear to me is faith. Isn’t that really what it comes down to? If we have faith in God and His Son, then what should we fear? That is the question that Jesus asks His disciples many times.

Many things happen in this world, through this life and there are times when others want us to be afraid, to be in fear. Fear paralyzes, it makes it difficult to think clearly, fear can make you do things that literally don’t make sense. Maybe that’s why for so long, since the beginning of time, Father and during His time, Jesus have consistently told us not to fear. We were created in God’s image, we have a part of Him in each of us, and the strength He gives can overcome all fears.

Friends, let us listen to Father and His Son when they say, “Fear Not”. They are with us in all that we do and in all that we face. Let faith fill your heart, and let the fear slip away. Thanks for letting me ramble a bit this morning, just thoughts that have been mulling around in this silly head of mine. Have a great day!

Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
