Magnificent Beauty

Last year I spent some time in this little blog sharing information about a pretty famous eagle family. This family is followed on an “eagle cam” up in Fort Myers, Florida. It’s a pretty famous family actually because last year the female, Harriett went missing while the father M15 was out hunting for food. It is thought that she was killed while trying to protect her baby eaglets. The father M15 raised the eaglets in Harriett’s absence, and what a wonderful job he did.

Even more interesting about this family is that eagles usually mate for life. Well many months after raising his young, M15 appeared to have found another mate. Over the weeks, yes things proved to be pretty solid between the two and yes M15 and F23 had babies of their own 🙂 .

So what makes me think of these beautiful animals this morning? Well, our local weather guy shared an amazing picture this morning of an eagle defending its nest from an osprey, (picture below, credit Edward Saternus). I couldn’t help but think of Harriett and how she must have fought to keep her young safe. That’s what parents do, they protect their children, even if it means our own life, we will protect our young, the most precious gift that Father gives us.

Maybe that is why the picture appeared this morning. Maybe Jesus wanted to remind me, and us, that the gift of children well the gift is simply priceless. They are a miracle, and they are magnificent beauty, as is the symbol of our nation, the bald eagle.

Just some simple thoughts this morning friends. Take a moment to hug your kids, give them a call, send them a text, just touch base with them today. Then, if you get a moment, check in on the SW Florida Eagle Cam for a treat.

Happy Saturday and continued prayers lifted for Western NC, California, and for our sweet Emily Rea.

Psalm 127:3
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
