There are times when I think we need to do this. No, I don’t recommend it when you are doing important things, like driving, for instance. Trust me, here in SW Florida, we have enough drivers who appear to be totally disengaged while they drive. Nah, I don’t recommend that!
Anyway, after a long week, when you have juggled multiple priorities, maybe have been traveling on business, been knee-deep in a major project, whatever might cause a feeling of overload, it’s ok to disengage. Actually, I think it’s much needed to clear your mind.
This morning as I sat with Father and enjoyed a beautiful morning, (my goodness the sky is blue), this is what came out of my mouth after “Good morning Father”, “Please help me to disengage today with you”. What I meant by that request was that I want to leave the work week behind, I want to clear my mind of priorities that are pending, and I’d like to enjoy a day with Him. It’s funny, as I had that conversation with Him, I felt my shoulders relax, I felt my mood change even. Just the thought of spending time with our Lord fully made me feel better. Well isn’t that a silly concept 🙂 .
Well friends, today I recommend doing just that if you are at all able. Just disengage from the norm. Step away from the work priorities, enjoy the outdoors, (bundle up if need be), or enjoy a cup of coffee by the fire, read a book, take a walk, whatever it may be, but step away from the norm. Spend time talking with Jesus, share your thoughts, dreams, concerns, fears, hopes, and loves. Let Him hear it all and then you know what, just listen. Take time, disengage with Him.
Have a good day friends, continued prayers for NC, CA and our sweet Emily Rea.

Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
