Freshly Laundered PJs

Like most people, the weekends usually include the weekly chore of doing laundry. Even though there are only two of us in our household, yes the loads are smaller, but it’s a weekly job to get everything washed and folded. So alas, yesterday afternoon and evening, we found ourselves taking turns transferring clothes from washer to dryer, folding the clean, loading the dirty, you all know the drill. I have to say though, I love the smell of freshly laundered clothes. Just like those commercials where someone puts their face into a fresh-smelling towel, yep love the smell 🙂 . Ok, where the heck am I going with this little blog this morning? No, I didn’t decide to shift to blogging about laundry products or weekend chores, I’ll connect the dots here in a moment.

Last night I showered before bed, as my husband and I had done more than just laundry in the afternoon. We ran errands, washed the car, (including overspray on body and clothes from the carwash wand), etc. So, to say we were in need of showers by the end of the day, ya that was a bit of an understatement. Anyway, I showered and put on freshly laundered pj’s, ahhh 🙂 .

I made my way outside to have my evening conversation with Father before bed. As I sat down and said, “Good evening Father”, I could smell the fresh scent from my pj’s and it made me smile. I couldn’t help but say, “Yes, just like the wonderful smell of freshly laundered pj’s, it’s so comfy, cozy to sit here and talk with you”. I felt that “tingle” that I get when I know He is so present, almost acknowledging my comment.

It probably sounds silly, how I’m relating my time with our Lord to smelling freshly laundered clothes. Well, just put yourself there for a moment and recall how you feel when you smell something fresh, maybe not your pj’s, think of freshly mown grass, the smell of daffodils in the springtime, anything that makes your senses take notice. Now, think of your relationship with Father, and with Jesus, do your senses take notice, do you feel something inside? If you’re like me the answer is absolutely.

Maybe it’s a stretch, but you know, Father is with us in all that we do, and I believe there are times when He is just a little more present to us. Last night just happened to be one of those times. I love that my time with Him is comfy and cozy, just like those freshly laundered pj’s.

Have a wonderful day friends. Please continue to keep sweet Emily Rea in your prayers, that she may be found and returned home to her family.

John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
