I was reading a piece on one of the Christian websites where I find deep and meaningful prayers at times. Some of the contributors to this site have such a strong relationship with Jesus, that you can almost feel it as you read their pieces. However, this morning I was reading a piece and the person started with “Why Sunday Prayers are so meaningful”. One of the reasons they gave was, “Sunday is a day to reconnect with God”. Hmm, I thought. Isn’t every day a day we should be…not reconnecting with God, but connecting with God?
I think it’s often easy to look at Sunday as a day to get our weekly dose of Jesus and then we’re all set. Admittedly, years ago, I had these same feelings. I looked at Sunday, as the day I went to church with family to get “reenergized” for the week. That was before I realized how my relationship with Father was not what He wanted. He didn’t want me to only come to Him one day a week. He wanted and wants me to be one with Him every day and all day. My relationship with Jesus doesn’t depend on me stepping into a building to hear beautiful music and a sermon. My relationship with Jesus depends on me seeking Him each and every day. It grows as I give myself fully to Him, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
So, no, I don’t believe that Sunday is a day to reconnect with God. Every day is a day to connect and grow with Him and through Him. We don’t need four walls of a church to make sure we do that. Please don’t misunderstand, of course, going to church on Sunday is important. However, if you don’t have a daily relationship with our Lord, it’s easy to just go through the motions on Sunday, (trust me I know).
Every day is a day to connect with Father. Every day is a day to strengthen our relationship with Jesus. What a wonderful feeling to wake up every day knowing that there are countless opportunities to share everything with our Lord 🙂 . So, take some time today friends to be in conversation with Him. And then…do it again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next…
Have a great day friends. Continued prayers for our sweet Emily Rea, that she may be found and returned home.
