Lent begins today with Ash Wednesday. Over the years, I’ve participated by giving up various things, such as chocolate, alcohol, meat, etc. I admit that giving up some of my loves—or should I say vices—made me stop and think about what Jesus went through during those 40 days in the desert.
I gave up giving up things many years ago and instead chose to give in to Lent. What I mean by that is giving even more of myself to Jesus during this Holy season. For instance, instead of turning on the TV at night, sitting down to read the Bible will be the activity of choice. Instead of staying at my desk for lunch, I’m choosing to make my way outdoors to enjoy the beauty of God’s landscape and make time to talk with Jesus at noonday. Yes, giving in to Jesus and walking His walk so that I may be closer to Him is a better way for me personally to participate in this Lenten Season.
However you choose to walk this journey of Lent, I hope that you are drawn closer to Jesus. Make time to dive even deeper into your relationship with Him. Let us all understand the walk He made as He prepared to give His life for us. He gave the most priceless gift, may we take time over these coming weeks to be reminded of that gift, and give ourselves fully to Him in thanksgiving.
Have a good day friends.
Genesis 3:19
By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
