Skills and Talents

I’ve shared in this little blog that we are having some remodeling done in our condo. As I’ve mentioned we chose to rent a place while the work is being done, and our last few trips through our place tell us, ya we made the right decision πŸ™‚ .

Yesterday, after work, we stopped by as we knew there had been some significant progress made in the last few days. When we arrived the men who were putting in new tile were just finishing for the day. We introduced ourselves and made our way inside. With anticipation we looked into the shower of one of the bathrooms. The tile we had picked out shown nicely on the wall in front of us. There was a slight pattern in the tile and I noticed that the workers had taken care to line up the pattern from piece to piece, wow I thought, that was really a skill. We made our way over to the next bathroom, again the tile we picked was on display on the main wall of that shower. It too had a pattern, an even more pronounced one, and they nailed it. Again, I thought about the skill it took to do that kind of work.

Yesterday afternoon my husband and I were setting up the altar for services this Sunday. While in the church our music director came in to practice. I listened as he played and heard that beautiful music come from simple hands, well yes skill and talent. I’m in awe of people who can read musical notes and turn them into a heavenly tune.

This morning while having my chat with Father I thought about the many people in this world that have skills and talents to share. Those skills and talents are gifts from above. They are gifts from our Lord and we should give thanks for them every day. Whether it’s a tradesman who can place beautiful tile, a musician who can make music from Heaven, or a chef who can make elegant food, let’s give thanks for the gifts He provides.

Just a simple little blog this morning friends. Enjoy your Saturday and give thanks for the many skills and talents you may have. Father has granted them, let us be thankful and share them whenever we can.

Continued prayers for sweet Emily Rea’s return. Special prayer today as well to my friend Tom who said goodbye to his mom as she made her way to heaven yesterday.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
