A Commercial Memory

Now what in the world could I be sharing in this little blog this morning with a title like that? To be honest, I struggled with what to title this one today, so just work with me on this 🙂 .

I’ve felt like my last week or so of posts have been a little “heavy”. Just lots going on at work, and our remodeling project has had some hiccups that have me a little frustrated, and I believe that has come through here. I just felt like this morning’s little blog needed something to make everyone smile, and maybe bring up a memory or two from years gone by.

My husband and I got home late last night. I had a meeting, then by the time we made a check in at our place, and hit the grocery store, well it was much later than I wanted to be getting home. We had grabbed something to just toss on the grill for dinner, and while my husband was doing that I flipped on the first of the many NCAA basketball games to be played over the coming weeks. I didn’t even have a team in the hunt of this particular game, but there was something about starting the March Madness tourney that took some weight off my shoulders. Sounds weird I guess, but it did help me let go of the cray cray of the day.

As I was putting together dinner and half watching the game, a commercial came on and the music that played in the background made my head turn to see what was happening. That familiar tune from my childhood instantly put a smile on my face. It brought back so many memories not just from childhood but times with when our kids were young as well.

I think I’ve shared before in this little blog how we used to listen to the oldies station when our kids were little. On Saturday evenings you could call in and request your favorite oldies, and our kids would take turns calling in each week to request this song. Yes, it made me smile and I just figured it was a good start to today’s little blog.

So, you can thank me later for this tune being in your head all day, but I know you will have to admit it made you smile too once you hear it!

Have a good day friends, find a reason to smile today, and even better, find a way to help someone else smile today 🙂 .
