Yesterday morning I was bustling around trying to get out the door for my workout and then on to an appointment from there. Leaving the gym to work or other appointments has its challenges. I have to pack a bag to shower there, which means packing toiletries, towel, yada, yada, and invariably I forget something. I got myself out the door, later than I wanted, and off to the gym. Workout done, showered and changed and off to my dental appt. I actually arrived at the office 20 minutes early and decided to just hang in my car prepping for the things on my to-do list.
It wasn’t long before I realized a few things that were going to take some extra time in my day, and I was feeling rushed and almost irritated that this appointment was going to take an hour out of my day that was already jam-packed. I just wanted to get into the office, even though they weren’t open yet, get the appt over and get moving. I had things to do.
Well, just as I was getting ready to head in, my phone beeped with a text message. It was from my granddaughter and it contained five pictures. They were images of the most beautiful sunrise. Her text simply read, “Good morning, saw this, this morning and thought of you ❤ “. OK, thank you Father for the reminder was what instantly popped into my head. Those images were so beautiful, one of them is the cover of today’s little blog. More importantly, was the message of love from my sweet granddaughter. She had stopped her car to take those images across the newly planted cornfield. She had thought enough to not only take those pictures but to send me the message.
As I’ve been saying recently, Father knows what we need just when we need it. He knew I needed to refocus yesterday on what was important. Yes, even dental appointments. He brought me back to the simpleness of the love of family and the beauty of the sunrise. Thank you, Lord, for the gentle reminder 🙂 .
Friends, remember the simple gifts in this life and stop letting the craziness of the days bring you down. Life is so much bigger than what we tend to focus on. Share a smile, a simple touch, enjoy a sunrise, hug your children and grandchildren, and remember, God is always with us.
Have a good day friends, continued prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea. And thanks again to my sweet granddaughter Dakota for the beautiful sunrise pictures from the Heartland.
