Last night our oldest daughter sent us a text message. There was a picture of a young couple, looking as if they were posing for their engagement pictures. You could tell it was an older picture. As I looked at it trying to determine if I knew the couple, (which I didn’t), she went on to explain what she had found.
They have been getting the brunt of these storms this week, and last night while she and our grandson were making their way inside through the wind and rain, she saw a piece of paper on their walk. When she bent down to pick it up, it was this picture. She recognized the couple as their next-door neighbors. “Great” you might be thinking, they lost a picture and your daughter found it, so nice. There is a little more to the story, our daughter and grandson finding this, well it’s Father at work.
You see, back in January the couple who lives next door, well they lost their home to a fire that literally destroyed everything. Yes, that was three months ago, and last night that picture appeared on the sidewalk at my daughter’s home. A picture of hope appears in the midst of tragedy.
The couple was at their home site yesterday, they are doing the cleanup and rebuilding themselves. My daughter was able to deliver the picture back to them and as you can imagine they were very appreciative.
There are so many signs that our Lord is at work in this world. Even when things seem the darkest, He shines light. This couple lost their home, their belongings, and memories, yet they still have each other. And…unexpectedly, they have a little reminder of their beginning a life together. Now they begin again with the hope that Father brings each day.
Friends, God is here, He is right in the middle of everything that happens in our lives. Sometimes we just don’t see it. Take some time today to look around at the many gifts He provides. The sun is rising on a new day, a day filled with hope. Have a wonderful day my friends 🙂 .
1 Timothy 4:10
For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
