Today is a busy day and one that provides so many opportunities to help others. Our church is holding one of its big community sales. Our thrift store, just recently restored from hurricane Milton, has been feverishly collecting “gently used” items from parishioners and other donors over the past weeks. Baby cribs to jewelry, housewares to art, have made their way to the Church Mouse as we call it. A slew of volunteers have been working over the past weeks to sort, tag, fluff, and fix items so they are ready for sale today.
This morning we’ll open the doors to the parish hall, courtyards, and mouse to what we estimate will be about 300 people to make their way through the goodies and take advantage of thrift deals. It’s always fun to see the community come out to support this sale, where 100% of the proceeds go into our Women of Trinity grants program where the monies are donated back to local county charities. Yes, our Church Mouse is alive and doing the work of Father through thrift π .
I’m headed down to my happy place Marco Island to spend the day with my Marco Patriots peeps. We’re welcoming a new business onto the island and will be set up with our merchandise tent. We’ll be raising funds to support our disaster relief work. Hurricane season will be here soon and we’re sure praying that it doesn’t rival last year. Just this last week though, our team was deployed to the Kentucky/Ohio area to support those who were affected by the recent flooding. Though hurricane season is a focus, we’re here through whatever disasters come.
So, it’s a day of support for those in need. It’s beautiful here in SW Florida, (the last of the cool weather before the heat arrives), the sun is shining and it will be a good day to be out and about. Andβ¦it’s a good day to show the love of Jesus through the work you do. Well, every day is a good day for that.
Have a wonderful Saturday, my friends. May it be filled with sunshine, smiles, and supporting others.
Hebrews 13:16
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
