This morning I had a treat as I made my way outside to spend a little time with Father. As I mentioned in yesterday’s little blog, I’m on Daufuskie Island, SC for the next few days helping with a golf group event. This morning as I took in all the sounds of this beautiful place, the birds chirping, the wind gently blowing in the pines and palms, the sound of the ocean in the distance, I was simply struck by God’s beauty. Then off to the right just outside the screen, two young deer were nibbling on the leaves of a nearby bush. They were not phased by my “good morning” to them, they just stopped and acknowledged my presence, then went back to nibbling.
I realized how crazy life becomes sometimes, that we can’t even stop and enjoy the beauty around us. Shame on us. God has blessed us with an incredible gift of this world we live in. He wants us to enjoy this simple gift, to take care of it, and to help it flourish. We can’t even do that if we don’t take time to stop, look, and listen to the beauty around us.
Friends, I know that life is busy, I know that family, work, and school schedules drive much of what we do. Well, maybe we need to let Father’s schedule drive what we do π . I know, easier said than done, present company included. Let’s at least try to carve out one day a week to do this, or maybe one hour a day might be easier to start. There is so much beauty around us, and sometimes getting away to a different place is all we need to remind us of it.
So today, I encourage you to take one hour and do something different if you can. Step outside and enjoy the sunshine. Get up an hour earlier and sit outside and listen to the sounds of the world waking up. Sit outside at sunset as the birds and critters close the day. Stop, look and listen, and give thanks for the simple beauty and gift that Father has given.
Have a good day friends, continue prayers lifted for sweet Emily Rea’s return.
Genesis 1:31
And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
