Over the weekend my husband and I did some spring cleaning, so to speak. We moved back into our home after having some remodeling done. It took longer than we expected, which admittedly was frustrating, but we are back home now and getting settled.
We spent the weekend putting things away, wiping down pictures, putting things back on the walls, moving furniture, etc. We found ourselves having to recall where certain things went, and in the end, might have changed things around a bit. It seems odd having to reacclimate. There were several times over the weekend when I just paused and gave thanks for our home. You know the saying, “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone”. Well, even though our being gone was temporary, I certainly have a new appreciation for being home 🙂 .
I think it’s easy to take things for granted. I recall looking around my house before the remodel and not being pleased with many parts of it. Now, even those areas that weren’t part of the remodel, well, I see them differently and you know what, they are just fine 🙂 . I’m grateful for every part of our home, even those places I’m not fond of cleaning.
I believe Father uses every situation to teach us something. These past months He has shown me many things. First, of course, He showed me the gift of a home. He reminded me of the gift of patience, (which admittedly I didn’t have at times). He showed me the gift of perseverance. And…many times, He helped me to pause and take time to understand a situation and make a good decision.
Friends, we are blessed in so many ways. Even through challenges, or situations that don’t go as we planned, our Lord is with us. I say that so often. However, it’s true. The past three months have been challenging at times, yes, but Father was there and each time I was frustrated, He stepped in to refocus me on what was important.
So, don’t take things for granted in this life. Live each day to the fullest, enjoy the little things, give thanks for the gifts He has blessed you with, and take time to look at things differently.
Have a wonderful day friends, please continue to lift prayers for sweet Emily Rea’s return.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
