Father in the Pool

Yesterday in this little blog I shared that a group of friends had put together a surprise for a mutual friend/mentor of ours. We all have gathered here in SW Florida, some coming from as far away as California to spend time with a wonderful woman who has touched our lives. I think it’s safe to say we did indeed surprise her. It’s not often that you see this wonderful lady speechless 🙂 .

I ducked out of the office early yesterday afternoon to spend more time with the group. We gathered around the pool, or should I say took it over, (thank goodness we’re in the off-season here), to soak up some vitamin D and catch up some more. There was laughter, sun, discussion, and more laughter, and more sun…you get the idea. It was a wonderful afternoon and I realized at one point that I hadn’t looked at my phone for three hours! Yes, three hours of no phone and I’m still here to tell you about it 🙂 . As a side note and a topic for another blog, I do recommend stepping away from your phone and looking around at the rest of the world out there.

Something more happened as we spent time together yesterday. As we floated around and shared stories, talked about family, and opened up about ourselves, I realized how much Father was in our midst. Many of the stories we shared centered around our faith in Christ. I could feel His presence in our midst, I could feel Him showing me that I was right where I was supposed to be. We were all where we were supposed to be.

The stories of how our Lord helped us through difficult times were so similar. As I listened to each story, people sharing their vulnerability and how they realized that during the most difficult decisions of their lives, they had to surrender themselves to God, Father was showing me as He always does: “I am with you always; trust in me.”

As I drove home yesterday afternoon, I couldn’t stop smiling. I felt relaxed, I felt happy, and I felt blessed to have the gift of amazing friends, friends who are comfortable openly sharing their love of Christ and faith in Him. It’s not lost on me that part of my happiness yesterday afternoon was that the time was filled with our Lord in our midst 🙂 .

Friends, when Father is in the middle of all we do, things are different. He can make all things new, He can turn darkness into light, despair into hope, sorrow into joy. Take a little time today to sit with Him, let Him into all that you do, let Him walk beside you, I think you’ll feel as I did yesterday…fully blessed.

Have a wonderful day my friends. Special prayers this morning for Aly, for Austin, and for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.
