Yesterday I asked for prayers for a friend of mine who was helping her mother leave this world into life everlasting with Jesus. I shared Psalm 23 which is such a moving passage and has helped me through many a difficult time.
Yesterday afternoon I got a text from my friend. It said, “Momma passed at 5:31 a.m.”. I realized when I read that text that at 5:31 I was typing this little blog, sharing the request for prayers and reading Psalm 23 as I typed it. I believe all things happen in the Lord’s time. I believe there are no coincidences. Perhaps Father knew that I needed to read the Psalm yesterday morning as I thought about my friend’s mom, but more importantly, was remembering mine. As I typed yesterday, I remembered those last hours with my mom. Today those memories don’t bring tears, but they do still bring some emptiness that won’t be filled until I see her again.
Today I continue to lift prayers for my friend and her family as they prepare for the final arrangements to honor their “momma”. I lift prayers for all those who have lost loved ones, especially as we move into this Memorial Day weekend. I take comfort in knowing that as I mentioned yesterday, “This life is changed not ended”. The gift of everlasting life was given to us through the death and rising again of our lord Jesus. May we always take comfort in knowing that we will see those we love again in paradise.
Have a wonderful day my friends. In addition to prayers for my friend and her family, please continue to lift prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
