Fit Them In

I’m spending the next few days with family in town. My stepmom is here for a visit. She’s making her way around the country to see family and friends on kind of a whirlwind tour so to speak. We haven’t seen each other in over a year, in person at least so this visit is long overdue.

As I’ve said in this little blog the last few weeks, things are kind of cray, cray right now. We just got back into our home from the remodeling process, getting it back in order, work is busy, you get the idea. I was trying to figure out how to fit in a visit and a few days away from the office, well should say I was stressing about it, like really stressing about it.

Well, as He always does, Father stepped in with a clear message of like, “Really?”. “Where is your faith in Me that all will be fine. More importantly, where is your gratefulness for the gift of family?” Indeed, where is my faith, and where are my priorities? Next to Father, there is no other priority more important than family.

So friends, regardless of what your schedule is like, regardless of your commitments, your responsibilities, there should always be a way to fit in family. There should never be a question or a reason not to. There should never be a regret on the other side that “I wish I had made time”.

Yesterday afternoon we had wonderful conversation catching up. At dinner, we laughed, like belly laughs as we ate and talked. Over the next few days, we’ll probably eat too much, we’ll visit some old neighborhoods, (my dad and stepmom lived here for a long time), we’ll laugh and we’ll make memories for the future. Take time friends, fit in family, and give thanks to Father for this precious gift.

Have a good day friends, and continued prayers for sweet Emily Rea as her family gathers in Montana this weekend to kick-start the search for her.

So now faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
