The Original Painter

I want to start this little blog today with a big thank you to everyone for your prayers yesterday. My husband is doing well, in and out of cataract surgery in record time. Recheck today and he’s on to clearer days ahead πŸ™‚ .

Over the past few days, I have seen some amazing pictures from a few friends on social media. I’ve sat and just stared at those images because of their incredible beauty. These images are works of art.

They aren’t pictures hanging in a museum, they aren’t images of faraway lands, no they are simply cell phone pictures of the sun setting in the sky. They are pictures from totally different geographical areas, the Heartland of the Midwest, and the Mountains of Montana. Yet…in each case, the sky is a beautiful backdrop of colors.

Some of life’s most precious gifts are totally free and the beauty of a sunrise or sunset is definitely one of them. Our Lord blesses us with simple beauty every day. He is the original painter and we are blessed to have Him paint the sky for us with incredible images. Unfortunately, we don’t take more time to simply stop and look up. I know I miss opportunities all the time, and I usually end up kicking myself afterward. Yes, I need to make more time to enjoy the free, yet priceless gift of the natural paintings that Father shares.

I’ve said it here many times before, our lives are busy, yes, but my goodness are we too busy to stop and look at the sky? Are we too busy to take in those images and then say, “Thank you Lord for this beautiful beginning, (or ending), to this day”? Well, if we are, perhaps it’s time we rearranged our priorities, present company included πŸ™‚ .

I would love to see more pictures from the original painter on social media. I’d love to see feeds filled with sunrises and sunsets, they bring such a wonderful feeling when you see them. Maybe second only to puppy pictures πŸ™‚ .

Friends, take time today to look up. Enjoy the free yet priceless gift of the beginning or end of a beautiful day, knowing that this gift is freely given to us by Father, the original painter.

Have a great day and thanks to my friend Mike McCarthy for his beautiful sunset picture from Big Sky, MT. It’s the cover of today’s little blog.

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
