Well, we all know that today is Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there who do so much. We celebrate you and all that you do for your families!
Today our family is also celebrating our grandson Austin. It’s his birthday. If you’ve followed this little blog for a while you know that Austin is a special young man. Just a little less than 20 years ago he was airlifted to a children’s hospital 90 miles from our home. A surgeon that evening told us “You need to understand, he very well may not make it through this, he’s a very sick little boy”. Well, he did make it through that surgery and many more after that. He never lets his Down Syndrome hold him back, actually, it’s just the opposite, he has most people wrapped around his little finger 🙂 .
Through that long night, the many surgeries to come and through the years after, my best friend and husband has been there. I watched as he held his little fingers in the NICU those early days. He would be the one on the floor with him, building things with Lincoln Logs. Into the pool, they went when Austin was learning about the water. We were there together to cheer him on at his Special Olympic meets. Yes, these are two special dudes in my life and I’m happy to celebrate them today!
Austin, for you I offer the annual Birthday Prayer:
Watch over thy child, O Lord, as his days increase; bless and
guide him wherever he may be. Strengthen him when he
stands; comfort him when discouraged or sorrowful; raise
him up if he fall; and in his heart may thy peace which
passeth understanding abide all the days of his life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
For my husband, Bob, I simply say Thank You. Thank you for always being there for me, for our kids, and for our grandkids. You have been and continue to be a rock of strength for our family. Your faith and love are endless and there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t thank the Lord for you.
So, Austin and Bob, today we celebrate YOU. Have an amazing day knowing that you are loved by so many ❤ .
3 John 1:4
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
