Yesterday after church, I tackled the remainder of a project that my husband and I started on Saturday. I had purchased a stand to hold my computer monitors, making more room on my desk at home. Did I mention that I’m not a fan of technology, including all its physical hardware? However, I was pretty pleased with myself.
When the box arrived, I systematically took out all the pieces and checked them off the list in the instruction booklet. Read all the instructions before starting, and then did the next smartest thing…I encouraged my husband to help me with the project. Saturday evening, we reached a point in the directions where we were struggling a bit. Ahh…that was time to stop for the evening. We picked back up yesterday afternoon, and not long after had everything set and ready to go. My desk, now with more space was tidied and I was able to get some things knocked off my list.
As the weekend usually does, the time flew by yesterday, and before I knew it, we had fixed and eaten dinner. I gave a quick thought to taking the day off today, to finish some things on my pending list. What the heck I thought. I checked all the appropriate calendars, mine, the church’s, and my boss, yep, good to go. I shot off a quick text to my boss who responded with a resounding yes. Another quick text to my team to let them know the plan and it was all set. I have to admit, I felt a bit more relaxed and looking forward to the day at home.
This morning, I got up a little later, hence the little blog coming out a little later. I made coffee, prepped dinner for this evening, and am ready to tackle my list all before 8:00 a.m. My perspective is a little different this morning. I’m a bit more focused, determined to get some things finished, it’s interesting how that happens. How just taking a day for yourself, even to do some things on a to-do list, can refocus you.
Friends, there are those times when we need to just give a day back to ourselves. Take a day to do what needs to be done. Whether that is to complete home projects, relax in the sun, take a walk through the woods, or whatever makes your heart happy, take the time. Father knows that we need days to decompress, in whatever form that takes. So take a day…off…
Have a great day friends and remember that God is with you in whatever you do, He will never forsake you, and He always wins 🙂 .
