A Lesson from Dory

Yesterday I took the day off to get some things checked off my to-do list at home. I’m happy to report that I made a pretty good dent in that list 🙂 . This morning as I sat and chatted with Father, I was thanking Him for keeping me focused and helping me to just keep pushing through. Trust me there were many times yesterday I wanted to just stop what I was doing and go enjoy the sunshine. Alas, I stayed put and accomplished almost everything I set out to do.

Today, I look at my list and I feel good about things. I’m glad I didn’t wander off into the sunshine, thinking that I’d get back to my list later. I’m glad I’m not kicking myself this morning for not staying on track.

As I talked with Father this morning, I heard Him say, “Keep pushing through”. It was then that I heard those simple words from the movie Nemo, from the little fish Dory… You know what she said throughout the movie, “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming”. Sorry, I know you will have that in your head for the rest of the day now. However…you have to admit, that’s kind of how we have to approach this thing called life. We have to just keep moving, keep taking one step in front of the other.

No matter what we are working on, whether it be a simple to-do list, a major work project, or dealing with grief from a loss, we have to keep pushing through. Luckily we don’t have to do it alone. Jesus is there with us. Now there is a sight, right? Jesus beside us saying, “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming”. Ok, maybe He’s not saying those words, but what He does say is, “I am with you always, to the end of the age”.

Friends, don’t let yourself get overwhelmed. Keep focused in this life, and let our Lord in to help. We don’t have to do this thing called life alone, He wants to guide us, so let’s let Him. We just have to keep swimming, sometimes it might be upstream, but that’s ok, we’re strong enough to overcome the current.

Have a good day friends, please keep lifting prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
