Last night my husband and I stopped at a local Italian restaurant on the way home from work. It’s great to be able to dine at some restaurants during the off-season without having to make a reservation weeks in advance 🙂 .
As we were leaving I noticed the gray clouds. Yep, it’s summer in SW Florida, and the rain was comin’. As we got closer to home I could see the clouds getting darker, but we only got sprinkles. Once upstairs, we changed and settled down to chat a bit and relax. My husband opened the shutters in our dining room before taking a seat. I happened to just glance and saw incredible purples and oranges coming in the window.
I got up and wandered over to see the most incredible sky I’ve seen in many, many months. And…this was just from my dining room window. I can only imagine what the sky looked like on the beach. Now I was kicking myself that we weren’t there, however, in fairness it looked dark and gloomy when we were heading home.
It struck me last night, the simpleness of a gorgeous sunset. The brilliant colors make you forget about the craziness of your day. I think it’s Father at work telling us to walk away from the distractions and evils of the world and enjoy the world He created. I can almost hear Him saying, “LOOK TO ME”. “Look at the beauty I will provide. Step away from the distractions of this world and let Me show you the beauty that is always before you”.
Friends, as I have said many times before, the Lord never said that our time here would be easy. He said He would be with us every step of the way if we let Him. So, let’s give all our challenges to Him. All of it. Let’s ask Him to walk beside us and give us pointers to navigate this thing called life.
Then, walk into the simple beauty he provides each day 🙂 .
Have a great day friends. Continued prayers for all affected by the recent flooding. Prayers always for Emily Rea’s return.
Take some time this evening to look up, see the simpleness and the beauty of the sunset.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
