The Busy & The Littles

I have a busy day ahead, yes, yes, I know, I am not alone on that front. Today, my new team member starts. I shared a little about her a few weeks ago. Although I know the next few weeks will be even busier with training, by the end of the summer, I look forward to having support as we enter the “season”.

So, today, the little blog will be a little shorter as I get myself out the door earlier than usual. I wanted to share a short prayer that is in the little red book, “The Practice of Religion”. I mentioned it in this little blog a few weeks ago. Shew, that’s a lot of “littles” isn’t it 🙂 . You know what, some of the most precious things are little 🙂 .

Anyway, this prayer is specifically for the morning, a nice way to say thank you to Father for bringing us through the night and for readying us for the day ahead. Now, admittedly, this is from a book published in 1950 and follows our previous 1928 prayer book, so the language is more formal, you could say. That’s ok though, I think it helps us to slow down as we read the prayer and understand the words being said.

I hope this prayer will bring a good start to your day, friends. Take a moment this morning before the craziness of your day begins, say thank you to our Lord for the gift of a new day, ask Him to walk with you today, and share His love along the way.

I laid me down and slept and rose again, for the Lord watched over me.

Now that the daylight fills the sky,
We lift our hearts to God on high,
That He in all we do or say,
May keep us free from sin today.

O Father, fill our hearts with love,
That we may seek the things above,
Extinguish Thou each sinful fire,
And banish every wrong desire.

O Father, that we ask be done,
Through Jesus Christ, Thine Only Son,
Who with the Holy Ghost and Thee,
Doth live and reign eternally.

Have a wonderful day, friends. Continued prayers for Texas and for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
