Emily Rea One Year Later

If you’ve been following this little blog for the past year, you know the story about Emily Rea. She is the niece of the dear friend of mind. Emily went missing one year ago today. She planned a short paddleboard outing at the Hungry Horse Reservoir in Flathead County, MT but she never came home.

Her car was later found at the Riverside Boat Launch, and her paddleboard was discovered over two miles away in an unusual configuration. Key personal items, including her phone and life jacket, remain missing. Despite extensive search efforts using sonar, dogs, divers, drones, and helicopters, Emily has not been found.

While early efforts focused on a possible water accident, several unanswered questions remain. Friends, family, and supporters believe additional investigative steps could help uncover what happened and bring Emily home.

There are still many unresolved questions in Emily’s disappearance and the family has recently hired a private investigator to help explore criminal possibilities in the case.

Emily’s paddleboard was discovered in a suspicious configuration, with items strapped to it that she would not typically bring on a short paddle — raising the possibility that the scene was staged to simulate a drowning.

Her cell phone and life jacket remain missing.

Several critical investigative steps have yet to be taken and a variety of resources remain for possible new evidence:

1. Emily’s car and paddleboard were not properly processed as potential crime scenes.
2. Formal interviews have not been conducted with Emily’s closest friends, associates, or others who may have valuable insight.
3. Local leads and rumors of foul play have not been thoroughly investigated.
4. Available camera and drone footage from the surrounding area has not been fully reviewed or used to reconstruct potential timelines or identify suspicious activity.

Investigating these leads could make a significant difference in finding Emily.

Additionally, several other women have been reported missing in this general area, one since Emily’s disappearance. So yes, there are many unanswered questions. These questions deserve to be answered.

Friends, I ask that you continue to pray for the return of sweet Emily Rea. One year ago, this sweet lady woke up to experience a beautiful Montana day, she should have done the same on July 17, 2024.

Matthew 18:12-14
What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
