I have a wonderful pocket-size book that was given to me by a friend many years ago. It’s title One-Minute Prayers. Every now and then I pull the book from the shelf in my office and read the simple prayers. They aren’t prayers in a traditional sense, they are more like thoughts, or conversations that the writer has with Father.
This morning my eyes came across the book and I pulled it out and began to read. Simple but meaningful prayers/thoughts. I wanted to share one with you that touched me. The craziness in this world can be overwhelming some days, but if we let go, and not participate in it, if we trust in our Lord, all will be well.
The prayer is titled “I Wouldn’t Dream of It”.
I have given up guessing what is in store for me, Lord. I used to think I had life all figured out. I thought I understood Your ways completely. But that was ignorance on my part. Forgive me for the times I bragged about what my path would become.
Lord, I no longer believe I own today or tomorrow. They are Yours alone to shape and to give. I wouldn’t dream of filling my days predicting what will happen next. And You don’t ask me to. You only ask that I trust You with every breath, every today, and every tomorrow.
Simple words and a powerful message. We do not know what tomorrow holds, we know we are here today, and today is the Lord’s day. Let’s rejoice and be glad in it π .
Have a good day my friends. A special congratulations to my friend Tija on becoming a grandmother again. Prayers lifted as always for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.
