I woke up several times last night. Not one of my more restful nights’ sleep. You know how it goes, you try to shut your mind off, but there are just those evenings when it doesn’t want to cooperate. I tried the standard things, counting sheep, deep breathing, counting backwards from 100, ya, no dice. I considered getting up at one point and realized, nah, that wasn’t a good idea either.
I settled back down, and then I heard it, this verse from Hebrews, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever”. A lightbulb went off in my head. Yep, that was the Lord telling me to, “Settle down, it’s all going to be fine. My Son is always with you. He was there yesterday, He’s here today, and He will be there tomorrow and beyond”. It didn’t take long after that, when I dozed back to sleep until my alarm went off (which seemed like only moments later).
I don’t often think about that Bible verse, more accurately, that one does not come to mind quickly, so the fact that it did out of nowhere, well, there are no coincidences, let’s just say. Things happen for a reason, Father moves in our lives in ways we don’t understand sometimes. Then there are other times, like last night, when it’s very clear. Fear not, be at peace, know that I am with you. Very simple message when I needed to hear it. I love how He works like this in our lives. My goodness, the love He shows us, we are so blessed.
Friends, even when you think He is not there. When you feel lost or alone. Stop, talk to Him, let Him know that you need to feel His presence with you. I’m confident the Lord will answer that prayer. Just let yourself be open to hearing His reply. He is always there, forever.
Have a good day, friends. Prayers lifted for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
p.s. Thanks to my friend Liz Brunson for the sunset pic from the Heartland, the cover of today’s little blog.
