For the Doers

Today is Labor Day. I don’t want to take up this little blog with the full history of Labor Day, but I did want to share this interesting summation of this last holiday of the summer, that I came across from Country Living magazine.

“Simply put, Labor Day celebrates Americans who labor. It is a day to appreciate the economic and societal impact of hardworking Americans and to reflect on the progress our country has made as a result of the American workforce. Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September every year. It has been a national holiday since June 28, 1894”.

Like I said, I thought it summed it up pretty nicely. So today, I just want to say Thank You to the doers. The people who make this country tick. Without the receptionists, restaurant servers, convenience store attendants, those who transfer bags at the airport, those who take care of the landscaping at the cemeteries, those who drive the big rigs across the country, those who run the daycares, those who work the oil rigs, and sooooo many more, this country would simply cease to be. Countless people just get up every day and do their jobs. Many don’t even receive a thank you for their efforts. Today, I say THANK YOU. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. And you know what…Father notices every day what you do to make this place we call home a little better.

I want to share a prayer that was said at church yesterday.

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for everAmen.

So, for all you doers, I say THANK YOU, and for those of you “doing”, meaning working today, on this Holiday, I say even louder, THANK YOU! May God continue to bless you, and may He continue to bless the U.S.A.

Have a good day everyone!

Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
