Yesterday I was moved by many things. The 9/11 remembrances honored the many lives lost 24 years ago. Our country was forever changed on 9/11/01, and now, so many years later, we still honor those who never came home that day. That is a testament to our faith and love for God’s children.
I was touched yesterday as well by the many gatherings to pray for the family of Charlie Kirk. College students formed prayer vigils all over the country. Churches held special services to pray together. These gatherings were not just about praying for a man who was shot and for the young, beautiful family he leaves behind; it was about praying for this nation.
I was touched by individuals who flooded social media, all calling for the same thing. “Lord heal the hearts of your children. Wipe away the hate and evil that has fallen upon us, and fill us with Your love”. The words may have varied from person to person, but the message was the same: a call to Father to intercede.
I believe we can heal this nation. I believe we can, together, with God’s help, we can overcome the hatred and the discourse that has infiltrated our everyday lives. I believe that we can stand up and say no more when those who disagree spew hate, rather than having a civil conversation.
The love shown at all of those gatherings yesterday is proof of the power we hold in prayer. Yes, friends, we can do this, we can be better, we can show Father that we can do as He asks, “Love others as I have loved you”.
Today, I simply say, start your day in prayer, end your day in prayer, and…yes, take time in the middle of the day to pray as well. Together, we can do this; we can foil the plan that satan is trying to implement.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
