The night before last, I had a bad dream. I don’t usually have dreams that wake me up in a start, but I sure did that night. I was riding a bike down a street. On each side of the street were homes, almost duplexes, I guess you would call them. Each had a short driveway out onto the street, and several of those driveways had cars parked in them. I guess you could say it was a typical neighborhood.
At the end of the street, there was a big gate that blocked the street. Think tall, almost barn door-like gate. I was riding towards the end of the street, toward the gate. I noticed as I got closer, there were three animals. There was an alligator, a large snake, and a large lizard. I was trying to figure out how I was going to get past them to go through the gate. I didn’t know what was on the other side, but I just knew that I needed to get there.
I slowed down my bike and watched the reptiles begin to circle each other. The next thing I knew, all three of them had pounced on each other. They were fighting horribly. Then all of a sudden, they vanished, just disappeared, and before me was a clear path to the gate.
I woke up with a start, trying to make sense of the dream. It took me a little bit to settle, but what I heard not long after was, “Evil will destroy itself”. I thought about those words for a bit to try to understand how that is possible. Doesn’t good need to destroy evil?
Well, here’s where I landed: evil doesn’t care about love; it doesn’t care about relationships between family and friends. Evil despises all those things. So, if that is all that abounds, if all evil can see around it is those things it despises, especially love, then I believe it will attack itself and ultimately destroy itself.
Each day, if we dress ourselves in the armor of Father, armed with His love and His glory to share with others, evil has no place here. I’m not saying evil is going to magically disappear like it did in my dream. What I’m saying is the way to combat it is to not give it a place to live. Fill our world with the things it despises to drive it out. Together, we can help evil destroy itself.
Thanks so much friends for your continued prayers for my brother-in-law Mac.
