Thy Will Be Done

These are four of the most difficult words we must say at times. Not my will, Lord, but Your will be done.

Even though the words are difficult, there is also comfort in these words. If we can, through whatever challenges we face, if we can keep Him front and center, hold firmly to Him, then we know that His will is what will be done.

I’m not going to pretend to sit here and tell you all that it’s easy. I’m not going to pretend that I know what God has planned for each of our lives, because of course, I don’t. I only know that in the most difficult of times, He wants us to draw closer to Him, not withdraw from Him. “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest,” He tells us in Matthew 11:28.

This morning, friends, I share a portion of Morning Prayer from my little red book, “The Practice of Religion”. It’s been in the McQueen family for decades and has been such a source of comfort. My husband still has his mom’s copy πŸ™‚ .

Now that the daylight fills the sky,
We lift our hearts to God on high,
That He in all we do or say,
May keep us free from sin today.
O, Father, fill our hearts with love,
That we may seek the things above,
Extinguish Though each sinful fire,
And banish every wrong desire.
O Father, that we ask be done,
Through Jesus Christ, Thine only Son,
Who with the Holy Ghost and Thee,
Doth live and reign eternally.

Continued prayers today friends for Mac, for the return of sweet Emily Rea, and for all those who need prayers lifted to our Lord. He is always with us, and will never forsake us.

Matthew 11:29
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
