I’ve never been a fan of seeing Christmas items in the stores starting in August. I’m a believer that Thanksgiving is such an important Holiday and one that deserves respect, and I don’t like that we kind of just skip over it and go right to Christmas.
Now, having said that, I do love the feeling that Christmas brings. I have a friend who has taken to putting up her tree in July, or whenever she feels like there needs to be a change in attitude, which, if you’ve watched the news lately, that’s like daily 🙂 . Just the other day, she posted on social media, “I’m not saying you have to put up your Christmas tree today, but…why the heck not”. As I look at the pictures of her beautiful tree, my mood changes almost instantly, ahh, yes, the “Christmas Effect”.
When I think about Christmas, I think of hope, love, peace, all the things that Jesus brought with Him when He came into this world in that little manger long ago. All those feelings that He asks us to have daily in all that we do, they are kind of on steroids at Christmas time. I know it’s because we mark a Holiday by celebrating His birth, but why don’t we have those feelings He brings loaded up every day?
Maybe there is something to putting up that tree and letting that Christmas effect take over every day. Let those feelings of hope, love, and peace guide us every day, just like they do at Christmas time. Every day is a day to celebrate Jesus, not just at Christmas, and if having that tree up helps, well, why the heck not 🙂 .
Have a good day, friends, may it be filled with the love, hope, and peace that Christmas brings.
1 Corinthians 13:13
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
