The Race

One of my dearest friends passed away almost eight years ago after fighting a fierce battle with an ugly disease known as ALS. She fought that battle with grace, if that is possible with this disease. Not long after she was officially diagnosed, she asked a group of her friends to figure out a way for us to help others in the community who were battling ALS.

It didn’t take long for the group to grow and together sponsored a major fundraiser that resulted in the formation of a local Central IL chapter of the ALS Foundation. This group provides resources to patients and caregivers to help make life for those affected by the disease a little easier.

Today, Page’s daughter, daughter-in-law, and other family and friends are running in memory of Page in the Chicago Marathon. Other family and friends, though not running, are on hand to cheer and support them. They run not only in memory of an incredible woman, but they continue the mission that Page began: “Help me help others with this disease”. It was who she was, always giving and looking for ways to share the Lord’s love in all that she did. And…she did a very good job of it.

So friends, this morning, I just ask that you say a prayer for Whitney, Stephanie, and all of Page’s family and friends who are participating in Chicago today. Please pray for a successful run, no injuries, and tons of awareness brought to the cause.

We love you, Page, and know that today you walk upright with our Lord and are smiling that family and friends continue to carry on your mission 🙂 .

Thanks so much, friends!
