Yesterday afternoon, I did the usual grocery store run. When I got home, I did something I haven’t in a while. I took the time to prep for the week. Made up a batch of the family salad dressing, restocked our homemade pickled jalapenos, and prepped for dinner all in one fell swoop. Following dinner, I made up our lunches for today, and when I headed for bed, I was feeling much more relaxed, knowing I had things ready to go. Being prepared can change how you feel about things for sure.
Yesterday morning, I shared a prayer for the island of Jamaica in this little blog. Hurricane Melissa is headed straight for this paradise, and as of this morning is now a category 5 hurricane, and she’s expected to stay at that intensity when she makes landfall. It’s not a good situation, and I hope that those in her path have prepared, including evacuation. This storm is an ugly one and is expected to do major damage to the island 😦 .
As we go through this life, there are opportunities to prepare, not just for our day-to-day activities, but also for our eternal time with Jesus. He gives us situations every day where we can choose to be like Him, to handle things with love and grace. When we do, we are preparing for the life everlasting. If we choose to handle things poorly, to not have an open heart, to not share Father’s love, then we probably will not be prepared when the day of his coming arrives. Will we be prepared when we stand before Him and share what we have done or not done in this life? Let’s take the opportunities He presents, and make sure we are.
Friends, please continue to lift prayers for those in Jamaica, in the path of this storm. Pray that Father will calm the seas. Continued prayers as well for sweet Emily Rea’s return.
1 Peter 1:13
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
