Maybe it’s because the last few years here in FL, we’ve had to deal with major storms. I suppose that’s the reason I, like many others, am following Hurricane Melissa as she makes her way to Jamaica with incredible power. It is already breaking records, and not in a good way. Hurricane Hunters clocked wind gusts at 241 mph last night 😦 .
When we are powerless to do anything except watch the reports, there is a helpless feeling that sets in. That’s not just with this situation; it happens throughout our lives. There are times when we are powerless, when all we can do is watch. Or is that all we can do? No, there is always prayer, and there is incredible power in prayer.
This morning, I offer the Lord’s prayer. I hope as you read this little blog, you’ll say this prayer out loud, not only for the people in the path of Hurricane Melissa, but for all who need prayer. Say this prayer for those on your prayer list, and know that the power of the prayers you say is so much stronger than you may think.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
Friends, keep praying, for those in the path of Melissa, but also for those who you know need it. Don’t underestimate the power you have when you lift prayer. Father hears.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
