Not a Fan

Well, friends, I had written this little blog this morning and then completely erased it, deciding on a different direction. I’m leaving my original title, though.

You see, I had written about not being a fan of Halloween. I realized by the time it was finished, ya, it was a downer. Let’s just say, again, not a fan, and I will lift prayers that all who participate today are safe.

So instead of leaving everyone with a feeling of “Wow, that wasn’t an uplifting message”, I’m going to share a prayer for Friday and the weekend ahead that I read this morning 🙂 .

As the sun rises this Friday morning, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude. Thank You for walking with us this week—through every challenge, every joy, every quiet moment. You have been faithful, and we pause now to give You praise.

Lord, as we finish the week, we ask for Your strength to carry us through. Renew our energy, sharpen our minds, and help us work today with integrity and joy. Let our words be filled with kindness and our hearts guided by Your Spirit.

We release every burden we’ve carried this week—every anxious thought, every worry we tried to shoulder alone. Your Word reminds us in Psalm 46:1 that You are “our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Remind us today that we are not alone.

Give us moments of rest today, Lord. Help us slow down enough to see Your hand at work in the small, beautiful details around us—conversations, sunsets, laughter, quiet.

As we move into the weekend, prepare our hearts for worship. Let us come to church not just out of habit, but with expectation—to encounter You, to hear Your voice, to be changed.

Thank You for Your constant love, for never giving up on us, and for always drawing us back to Your heart. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Have a good day friends, be safe this evening. Continued prayers for Jamaica and all those affected by Hurricane Melissa. Continued prayers also for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

p.s. Thanks to my granddaughter Dakota for the amazing sunset from the Heartland last night.

Exodus 14:14
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.
