Yes, you do. We all make a difference in this world. Gosh, I guess I can end this little blog with a prayer and call it done for the day š .
So, how did I get to this topic today? Well, here in SW Florida, the “season” is picking up. The part-time residents who spend their spring and summer months up north in the cooler climates are making their way back here for the winter. We can see the various out-of-state license plates, the traffic has picked up, the restaurants are getting full, you get the idea.
We even see the change at church. The pews are full, our welcome back event last Monday filled our parish hall, the phones are ringing, and parishioners we haven’t seen all summer are stopping in to catch up. Yes, we are a hopping place.
This morning, as I was talking with Father, I was giving thanks for the many blessings in my life. Of course, my precious family and wonderful friends, but I also gave thanks for the great team that I work with. We’ve formed into a “well-oiled” machine of sorts, running on all cylinders as my car-loving husband would say. We’re there to help each other at every turn, and I realized this morning how everyone, regardless of their role, they make a difference. Their contributions help make the lives of those we serve better.
Of course, that got me to thinking about the role we, God’s children, play in this world. Yes, we all make a difference, regardless of our work or financial status, regardless of where we live, we make a difference. Sometimes it’s the simplest of things, saying “thank you” to the drive-thru coffee server, putting away your grocery cart rather than leaving it in the parking lot, holding the door for that long-time veteran as he makes his way into his favorite diner. Yes, friends, there are little things we can do each day to make a difference.
So, as you begin your day, give a little thought into what you can do today to make a difference. Pay it forward, buy that car behind you in the drive-thru lane a cup of coffee. Make a point of saying a simple “good morning” to those you meet today. Support the relief efforts for those suffering due to Hurricane Melissa. Treat as you want to be treated, yes, make a difference.
Have a good day friends. Continued prayers for those affected by Hurricane Melissa, and continued prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.
