In this life, there are so many blessings. Sometimes I think that phrase gets overused. Can it really, though? I think of a few friends I have that when I ask, “How are you?”, they respond, “I’m blessed, truly blessed”. It’s true, we all have blessings in our lives that we need to be thankful for.

Today, my family and I give thanks for the blessing of my granddaughter Dakota. It’s her birthday, and I can’t believe how fast the time has flown by. It seems like yesterday that we were holding her in the hospital room. She has grown into a beautiful, strong young woman. The future ahead for her is bright, and we look forward to watching her continue to grow into all that she can be.

As I do every year, I offer this birthday prayer for this special gift in my life.
Watch over thy child, O Lord, as her days increase;
bless and guide her wherever she may be.
Strengthen her when she stands; comfort her when discouraged or sorrowful; raise her up if she fall; and in her heart may thy peace which
passeth all understanding abide all the days of her life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Friends, take a moment today to give thanks for all the blessings in your life. Celebrate the special blessings, like family. Celebrate the little things every day that make this life we live so special.
