Our youngest came into town yesterday. She’s helping her folks make the drive back home for the holiday. Wow, did I really say that? I’m not old, you’re old 🙂 .
Actually, I admit, having her here to help with some final preparations before we leave is a relief. I might have made a little to-do list for her while my husband and I wrap things up at work today. Yes, the preparations for the holiday are upon us.
As I sit here this morning writing this little blog, I’m just thankful. I’m thankful for family, for friends, for the blessings that Father provides each and every day.
I know that life throws us curve balls, I know that satan does his best to meddle in and destroy our relationship with our Lord. Some days, he even gets the upper hand, at least for a moment. That’s when we have to realize that we’re doing something right, or he wouldn’t be meddling.
As we go into the holiday week and we continue our preparations, let’s make sure those preparations include daily conversations with Father. Let’s make sure that the first thanks we give this Thanksgiving is for the gift of His most precious Son. Remember that final meal He had with His disciples. He took bread, gave thanks, and broke it. Dare I say, that was the first Thanksgiving.
So friends, let the preparations begin. Take moments each day to step back, settle with the Lord, tell Him thank you, and know that you are a precious gift.
Have a wonderful day. Oh, and could you please say a special prayer for my sister-in-law Lois, who is dealing with some health challenges, and could use some prayers. Thanks as always for being there when I ask for special prayers!
1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
