Traditionals

My goodness, we are only two days away from Thanksgiving. We’re making our final trek into our old hometown today, and my mind has shifted to the fun of preparing the Thanksgiving meal.

It’s a little different this year than when we lived here years ago. In the past, we hosted Thanksgiving; we called it the Rally of the Clan. I’ve written about those years in this little blog previously. It was always so special having everyone together. The meal prep began days in advance. I loved having something special to prep each night of the week leading up to Thanksgiving.

This year we’re spending the holiday with my siblings and our kids. We’ve all signed up to bring various traditional Thanksgiving dishes and a few non-traditional ones. I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone, and I might even be ok with the traditional cold Thanksgiving weather 🙂 .

So, I think I’ll be turning over the driving to someone else today as I put together my traditional shopping list and my to-do list. I’m smiling just thinking about these tasks. Silly, I guess, but yes, traditional is good 🙂 .

Friends, give yourself a moment today to think of the traditional Thanksgiving things you have cherished over the years. If you don’t have at least a few of them in your schedule for the next few days, well, figure out a way to sneak them in. Continue to give thanks for those little blessings; it’s what this week is all about.

Have a good day friends!

1 Corinthians 11:1-2
Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you.
