Advent Boost

With Thanksgiving falling late this year, there really isn’t time to breathe before we move right into Advent. Well, that’s what we did, we moved right into Advent. It’s hard to believe that Christmas is just three weeks away.

Today, I’m feeling rushed, still catching up from being out of the office last week, still getting things back in order at home, laundry and such, you get the idea. There are things here and there to be done, and I’m not feeling like I have the time to do them. That’s when it hit me. “Hello, we are in Advent. Stop and make space for the coming of our Lord”.

This time of the year, it’s easy to get lost in the activities of Christmas. The shopping, candy, and cookie making, wrapping, and such easily become the focus. Well, friends, let’s take a moment to step back each day and remember “The reason for the season”. God sent His only Son for us. Let’s prepare our hearts for His coming.

This morning I share this Advent prayer. Take a moment before the day begins to focus on the gift, the Christ child.

Father, just as You sent John the Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus, help me to clear the path in my heart, too. Show me the distractions that block me from the worship of You this Advent. Lord, I await Your coming! As I celebrate the first Advent––the first coming––I look toward the day when I will see You face to face. Give me a heart, Lord, that looks for Your coming on a daily basis. Help me to live my life where I’m constantly seeking Your presence. When I stumble, help me to seek forgiveness and to be stronger in your love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Take a moment each day in this Advent season, to make room for the baby Jesus.

Have a good day friends, prayers lifted for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

John 1:14
And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
