Concentration

Saturday, yep, you all know it, my favorite day, and during the holiday season, I love having the special traditions to focus on. This weekend is traditionally when our family gets the tree and decorates our home. We’ll be tackling that task for certain πŸ™‚ . It’s also Cookie Sunday at church, where the kids, young and old, will decorate cookies and make creche ornaments for Christmas Eve.

This morning, though, when I was having my chat with Father, I found myself wandering off, thinking about things on my to-do list. I had to stop and refocus, asking Him to help me concentrate on my time with Him. Sad, I know, right?! That’s when my prayer changed, actually, to ask Him to help me focus solely on Him. It was a gentle knock on the head, but He managed to refocus my thoughts and my prayers πŸ™‚ .

Do you find yourself not able to step away from the day-to-day and concentrate on things that aren’t must-dos? For instance, take our traditional Christmas decorating weekend. Had I not had my episode this morning with Father, I’m pretty certain that throughout the decorating I would be checking email and text messages, and thinking about things that I “should be” doing. Now, though, with His help, I’m going to concentrate on home and the joy of preparing it for baby Jesus.

Before the decorating, though, I’m looking forward to lunch with a few friends. We haven’t been together as a group for a very long time, and it will be so wonderful to see them. Again, concentrate on what is truly important, and make the time to be with those special people in your life.

Friends, it’s ok to step away from the day-to-day craziness in your life and not look at your phone, email, etc. This time of year, concentrate on the baby Jesus, the joy He brings, the light He brings, and the hope He brings to the world.

Have a good day, friends. Please continue to lift prayers for little baby Briggs and for the return of sweet Emily Rea.

Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
