It’s Not About…

I was thinking about this little blog this morning. It was one of those mornings when I was struggling a bit about what to share. Even my morning check-in with Father didn’t really yield a message, which is unusual.

However, throughout the morning, my mind keeps returning to a situation from yesterday. I don’t want to go into the details, it’s kind of a personal story, but I’ll simply say this, it’s not about the things in this life. This life is about relationships. This life is about living each day to the fullest, sharing your love with not only family, but friends, and those you meet. Letting people see the Lord at work in you. This life is about making memories to carry you through the difficult times. It’s not about the things.

So, as we make our way through the final few weeks of Advent to Christmas, I encourage you friends, don’t worry about the things. Don’t stress over the gift buying that you haven’t finished, or maybe haven’t even started. Make a gift. A simple yet thoughtful expression to show someone you were thinking about them and that you care.

Take time to make memories this season, actually, take time to make memories every day. Bake cookies with a child, young, or old. Meet friends for coffee, and splurge on the to-die-for pastry in the case.

Don’t focus on the things, focus on gift we’ve been given, the Christ Child, and the love that He brings to this world. Focus on His return, and until then, be like Him.

Have a good day, friends. Continued prayers for little Briggs, who is doing very well, and for the return of sweet Emily Rea. Please also lift a few prayers for my sister-in-law, for strength, comfort and guidance.

Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
