Christmas Eve. Just saying the words stirs up emotions, doesn’t it? Go ahead, say it, “Christmas Eve”. The thoughts that come to mind for me range from thinking about the Baby Jesus to the memories of Christmas past with our children. Yes, Christmas Eve, it’s a powerful time, emotionally, I mean.
As I look back on this year and think about the challenges, the ups and downs, the sadness and tears, the laughter and joy, I give thanks to Father for all of it. The events in our lives – they shape us, make us stronger, they provide opportunities to grow closer to our Lord.
I recognize that the Holidays don’t always bring joy to everyone. They hold memories, or perhaps it’s a first without a loved one. While this time of year may not bring joy, I pray that it brings a ray of hope. The promise of life everlasting, with those who have gone before, all because God loved us so much that He gave us the gift of a little baby on Christmas Day. A baby, a Saviour who would give everything for us to overcome sin and death.
I asked Father for something this morning during my time with Him. I thanked Him for the gift of His Son, and I asked Him to help me accept that gift. I asked Him to help me accept that gift fully into my heart and then to share it with everyone I meet.
Friends, take time this morning before the traditions begin, before the family wakes or arrives, before you are in the midst of celebrating, take time to give thanks for all the gifts you have. Say a prayer for those in need, those who are hurting, those who may not know Christ. Let us lift them all in prayer that this Christmas brings a ray of hope into the gift that Father has given.
Thank you for always being here, for your incredible support when prayers are needed, your kind words, and your love. I’m humbled, and more importantly, I’m blessed.
Prayers lifted today for little baby Briggs as he celebrates his first Christmas, prayers for Lance, and prayers for the return of sweet Emily Rea.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! I’m going to take a break for the next few days and enjoy a little downtime. I’ll be back on Monday 🙂 .
Luke 2:9-11
And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord”.
