Be Present

Our 4:00 p.m. Christmas Eve service is made for kids. This service allows the children to participate. They bring ornaments (many of which they made several weeks before on Cookie Sunday) to the Creche to lay at the feet of Mary. Once placed carefully there with Baby Jesus, our priest will bless them along with the beautiful Creche.

The message in the homily at this service was about being present. Our priest asked us to recall how each child came forward, how they were very aware of where they were placing their ornaments. He noted how they were so present in that moment, focused on the Baby Jesus.

Last night, as I was thinking about what to share here in this little blog today, that Christmas Eve message came to mind. I thought about all the times we were present over the past few days. The Christmas Eve service, dinner with friends afterward, a Zoom call with family on Christmas morning, another Zoom call with family in the afternoon, Christmas dinner with friends, wishing our oldest a Happy Birthday, and celebrating the 70th anniversary of dear friends. Yes, there were many, many times this Christmas Holiday that we were present. More importantly, though, Jesus was present.

Over the past several days, there were times when I would stop and just feel Jesus in the midst. The gift of His life and love, making its way through all of the special moments.

Friends, it’s important that we be present, not just at Christmas, but every day. It’s important to look for Jesus in all the moments in our lives. He is there, He is always present. We just need to invite Him into our hearts so that we can share His presence with others.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope you were present in each moment. And…I hope you felt His presence with you.

Have a wonderful day, friends 🙂 .

John 1:14
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
